Welcome to Sigma Nu at Northern Illinois University, home of the Theta Eta Chapter. Our culture is built around a simple idea: men become better when they challenge one another to grow. Here, that means leadership with purpose, academic achievement, competitive excellence, genuine brotherhood, and a commitment to Love, Honor, and Truth.  Founded at NIU as Beta Phi Gamma in 1966 and chartered as Theta Eta on April 19, 1970, our chapter has initiated more than 750 men. Today, undergraduates are supported by an active alumni network that mentors, advises, and stays connected long after graduation. 

Sigma Nu at NIU defines success through leadership, academics, competition, and brotherhood. We challenge our members to lead with purpose, take academics seriously, compete with intensity, and build friendships that last throughout life. Not everyone is born a leader... and we do not expect them to be. At Theta Eta, leadership is developed through experience, responsibility, mentorship, and opportunity. Brothers are encouraged to step forward, take ownership, build confidence, and grow through real roles across the chapter, campus, and community. With support from alumni and one another, members strengthen communication, accountability, and decision-making skills.
