Athletics give Sigma Nu brothers a place to compete, lead, communicate and represent Theta Eta with pride. Our teams participate in NIU intramural leagues, tournaments and Greek athletic events throughout the year. Each season builds accountability, teamwork and chapter involvement while giving members another way to contribute. Brothers compete across a wide range of sports, support one another from the sidelines and work together toward strong finishes, Huskie Cup points and championships that reflect the chapter’s commitment to athletics.

The Huskie Cup recognizes yearlong performance across NIU intramural sports. Sigma Nu’s run from 2022 through 2025 reflects strong participation, competitive teams and consistent results across multiple events. Every roster, game and tournament contributes points toward the chapter’s final standing.
SIGMA NU FLAG FOOTBALL
NIU INTRAMURAL LEAGUE • GREEK DIVISION
Sigma Nu Flag Football has produced some of Theta Eta’s strongest recent intramural results. The team won the Greek League championship in 2022 and completed an undefeated 7–0 championship season in Fall 2024. Preparation, communication and disciplined execution have driven the program’s continued success.
SIGMA NU DODGEBALL
NIU INTRAMURAL LEAGUE • GREEK DIVISION
Sigma Nu Dodgeball brings brothers together for NIU intramural tournament play and co-rec competition. The format rewards quick reactions, court awareness and coordinated team strategy. Dodgeball also has a philanthropic history within NIU Greek Life through Dodgeball for Diabetes, an event supporting the American Diabetes Association while bringing organizations together.

Sigma Nu Basketball competes through NIU’s Greek intramural league during the spring semester. The chapter posted a 5–1 record in Spring 2024, finishing with the strongest record shown in the published standings. Team defense, ball movement and consistent effort shape the group’s approach each season.

ALPH SIGMA ALPHA • PHI PSIDE OUT TOURNEY
Sigma Nu Volleyball includes intramural competition and participation in Phi Psi’d Out, an Alpha Sigma Alpha volleyball event that brings Greek organizations together on the court. Each match depends on communication, positioning and steady team play. The event gives our brothers another way to compete, represent Theta Eta and support the NIU Greek community
SIGMA NU SOFTBALL
INTRAMURAL & PHILANTHROPIC TRADITION AT NIU
Sigma Nu Softball brings brothers together for one of the chapter’s primary spring athletic events. Players compete through league games and tournament play while relying on steady defense, timely hitting and clear communication. Each game adds another opportunity to represent Theta Eta and earn Huskie Cup points.

SUPPORTING SORORITY TEAMS AND EVENTS
Sigma Nu supports sorority athletics at NIU by helping coach teams for the Greek Sorority Flag Football League, PHC Sorority Tugs and participating in chapter-hosted events such as Alpha Sigma Alpha’s Phi Psi’d Out volleyball tournament. Our brothers share their athletic experience, support other chapters and stay involved throughout the Greek community.
