Leadership at Theta Eta is developed through responsibility, accountability, service, and action. From Sigma Nu’s LEAD Program to chapter committees, executive roles, campus involvement, and Greek leadership opportunities, our members are challenged to grow with purpose. We believe leadership is not just a title. It is the daily commitment to represent yourself, your brothers, your chapter, and Northern Illinois University with honor.

Sigma Nu’s LEAD Program gives members a structured path to grow as leaders, students, brothers, and men of character. Built around Leadership, Ethics, Achievement, and Development, the program helps collegiate members gain the knowledge, skills, and confidence needed to lead with purpose throughout college and beyond.  Through interactive, in-person workshops, LEAD challenges members to think critically, make responsible decisions, set meaningful goals, and develop the habits of ethical leadership. The program is designed to meet members where they are, with topics that connect to their year in school, chapter experience, campus involvement, and role within the community.

Leadership at Theta Eta begins with involvement. Members have the opportunity to serve on committees, chair events, manage projects, organize service efforts, support recruitment, assist with alumni outreach, and help guide the direction of the chapter. These roles give brothers experience in communication, planning, accountability, teamwork, and follow through before they ever hold a formal executive position.

Grand Chapter brings collegiate and alumni delegates together to govern the Fraternity, debate legislation, elect national leadership, recognize achievement, and strengthen a shared commitment to Sigma Nu’s mission and future.

Brothers are encouraged to take active roles throughout Greek Life, campus organizations, student government, residence life, service initiatives, and the surrounding community. These opportunities allow members to represent Sigma Nu, build relationships, contribute to meaningful causes, and develop confidence in new environments. By leading alongside students from different backgrounds and organizations, brothers gain broader experience in collaboration, service, decision-making, and public responsibility.

Since its re-founding in 2006, Sigma Nu Fraternity at Northern Illinois University has earned a distinguished reputation as a premier leadership incubator on campus. The Theta Eta chapter has strategically positioned itself as “NIU’s leading fraternity,” dedicated to developing young men into influential leaders within the NIU Student Government Association (SGA), the NIU Inter-fraternity Council (IFC), Campus Activities Board (CAB) and the broader campus community. Through meticulously planned four-year career trajectories, Sigma Nu has consistently placed its members in top leadership positions, supplementing their educational experiences and preparing them for successful futures. Chapter leaders have held an SGA, IFC and/or CAB Executive position consecutively for over 13 years.
